discovering object manipulation all over again

My interest in hoop dance started to fade off a little bit before this summer. I felt like I was at a plateau and it was extremely frustrating. Then...I went to All Good festival and I'm happy to say that my love for hooping has been renewed. I realized that only through practice would I ever get over my plateau and improve! By just letting my poor little hoop collect dust in the corner I was doing nothing!!! I've decided to pick up Poi as an alternate to hooping. I think that any kind of object manipulation will interelate into hoop dance (especially with the minis). And now I have soooo many Safire tutorials to catch up on....I feel like I've discovered hoop dance all over again! I have all those same giddy excited feelings about my daily practice. =)

Any other beginner poi spinners on here? I'd love to chat with you about your successes and struggles! I'm sure I will have plenty of my own.

Also, thought I'd share something that happened at All Good. I went to the hoop jam on saturday (got to watch Brecken hoop, she was amazing!) and a girl asked to use one of my hoops. She happened to be using my favorite so when it was time to leave I couldn't bear the thought of breaking her hoop bliss and leaving her hoopless...soooo I just gave her one of my other hoops. She was so excited and gave me a huge hug. I loved the feeling it gave me to provide her with a hoop and I want to spread the hoop love to others. I hope I started her on her own hoop path. =)

okay....i'm done rambling. ta ta for now!

That was really nice of you gifting her a hoop. I've been thinking about learning poi as well, but haven't really done anything about it as of yet. Someday soon....
