Google Insights- see the rise of hula hooping by tracking search terms

In my internet surfing this morning I came across this awesome tool Google has called Google insights. It tracks Google searches over time. Below is the rise of "hula hoop" as a search term since 04! They even tag the lines when there's a big-hitting news article. Infographics geeks can drool over it for hours! You can also tailor it to show regional searches, weekly searches, whatever you need to know. It could probably be used as a great way to determine where to move if you're looking somewhere hoop-friendly, or for businesses who want to know more about their area.

I've linked this image to the actual search page so you can take a look for yourself and play with it a bit

Scunshine, have you ever considered becoming a librarian? Your talent for searching and interest in the results would give you a head start! :)

oh man, I love me some research! when everyone else starts complaining about the end of the semester and research papers, I hunker down and get excited to learn something new, ha ha. It would be awesome to do something like that as a career but my interests are really varied. Right now i'm finishing up my last year as a graphic design student, so I'll be looking for work in that field but it would be cool to figure out some way to combine the two. Thanks for the comment!
