so at my brothers swim meet in a neighboring city, i overheard a lady who was walking around passing out flyers saying that they are starting to do a get out and get fit-"party in the park" and RIGHT when I walked by she was saying there was bike riding, hula hooping, ect.

..so i walked up to her and was like I actually just started hula hooping and I make my own...blah blah...explained It is called hoop dancing with tricks and she was SO EXCITED!! she said she was just going to go buy some at walmart and she's now been telling everyone I was an answer to her prayers.

anyways...she invited me to come with them to advertise the event they are holding when they go to channel 5 FRIDAY (2 days) and the event is on SUNDAY (4 days)! I started a website (through a myspace) that I could refer people to if they had any questions or wanted to purchase a hoop I made/will make.

ANYONE THAT HAS SOME ADVICE IT IS REALLY APPRECIATED

I am thinking of charging $20 per hoop. I make them with about 10ft. of tubing and a connector and do pretty good tape jobs...it sounds like so much but I keep giving them to my friends and its getting really expensive...I know I can ask for more, but is $20 about right??

I was thinking of wearing something a little funky too?? but not too strange since its a city event and I'm pretty sure NO ONE has seen hooping...

..but yeah the plan is just to have people come and give hooping a try and help when I can or refer the to my myspace.com/happyhobby if they want to know more...

i guess i should make flyers or a business card too??

THANKSSSSSSSS! HOPE IT GOES WELL =)

$20 is cheap. These aren't walmart hoops you're making here! :-) Most people charge between $25 and $50 depending on the tape job. $25 being a really base job with cheap tapes like vinyl. You could make some cheaper and some fancier ones to give people an understanding of what goes into them and the difference between a practice hoop and a fancy one. It's up to you to educate them... both on the dance and your hoops. :-)

I would def get some sort of buisness cards too if possible. At the vary least a flyer you can hand out with your info on it. They may want a hoop later. ;-)

I know you only have a few days.... but you might want to consider having simple hoop to lend out during demos and then a variety of ones to buy.

Sounds like it'll be a great expirence!
Have fun with it and good luck! :-D

How exciting! I'm with Lulu-- $20 is too cheap, especially if you have gaffer, metallic &c. It's great to spread the hoop love but your time does deserve something. You might cut a special deal for friends, but not for the zillions who will want a hoop once they see you! Bring a cheapo toy hoop too so they can feel the difference & know what they are getting for their money.
