Hi! I'm Britany. I'm 24 and I live in Maryland. I've been hooping since Sept 10th. I've gotten down the corkscrew and the rising sun and the weave (just the regular figure 8). I'm struggling with the vortex.

I've made 3 hoops!

I have a beautiful beginner hoop named Iron Man :) or Tony..

My goals are to learn the vortex before Xmas (lol), to learn the helicopter, aaaaand to learn how to do an isolation. I don't think it's possible with this huge 39" hoop. I don't know if I need a polypro just to practice it on or what. My hoop is too heavy and wide.

I will post regularly as soon as I get my keyboard for my iPad working.

Anyways, hi :)

you don't need a polypro to learn an isolation. i learned on my beginner 38' hoop. it was hard but it built a lot of arm strength. but you can always cut down one of the hoops you have or just make another if you don't want to wait and built up the strength, what psi is the tubing you used?

i learned isolations on my 38'' hoop with 1'' tubing. it can be done! for the vortex, it helps keep momentum if you spin in a circle while vortexing. happy hooping!

My hoop has 100 PSI.

Thanks for the vortex tips. No matter how many vids I watch on Youtube, my hoop keeps wobbling downward after I switch hands behind my back to swing the hoop around. I'm just gonna keep trying or move on to something else and come back to it.

Anyone know any beginner isolation tricks? Something thats a good prerequesite?

welcome! im pretty new to this site as well. and i also started out hooping with a 38" hoop. all i can say is practice makes perfect!:)) and like danielle^ said, its easier to turn in a circle with your hoop to keep it up when doing the second part of the vortex. && whatever hand you are grabbing with from your waist, your hand starts off right above your bum and as you grab your hoop you wanna kinda slide the back of your hand up your side toward the front of you trying to keep your elbow pointed towards the sky, if that makes sense. lol. good luck and happy hooping! keep us updatedd:))
