My green and yellow "budget hoop" arrived the other day from Hipster Hoops!  After researching all the different weights and sizes, I selected one that's about 41 or 42 inches around, and comes a little above my belly button, and it's 160 psi.  I decided to give my hoop the name of "Kiwi" because of the colors: bright green gaffer tape, and yellow vinyl - it just remind me of a yummy ripe kiwi.  After cutting off the packaging material, I was able to unfold the hoop easily, as it was shipped as a travel hoop.

I am a true hipster, baby boomer etc, as I'm over 40.  Ever since I began searching for fun ways exercise, and I saw the grace and fun of the hooper performing at a music festival, I knew hooping was for me.  I couldn't wait to re-learn hula hooping.  I'm so excited  but a little unsure about it - it's been a really long time since I hooped as a kid.

Day 1:  One big spin...and it falls.  Another big spin...and it falls....By the 4th spin it was working! I was waist hooping!...note to self: step out with a foot in front of you.    Boy, this hoop is quite large....but I'm having fun....and it's still working!  After about 25 minutes...maybe I should take a break.....my torso is a little sore.  Later that evening...oh no...I have bruises on my waist!  Och!  I guess I over did it...I'll have to wait, and hoop when these heal up...bummer.

The bruising is normal. For about 3 1/2 weeks my left hip bone felt like I ran and hit the side of a desk. Even today when I hoop I still feel it a little, the pain. It doesn't hurt as much. I think I'm getting used to it. Even the pain doesn't deter me from hooping. It's just too much fun.

Congrats on keeping your hoop up!

Thanks for the encouragement - it's good to know bruising is normal.  It's been a couple of weeks now, and my bruises are gone.  I found some arnica jell that was recommended by another hooper - and it helped heal them faster.
