Two weeks ago I received a set of lovely 20” LED mini hoops from the amazing hoop creators at MoodHoops.com. I’ve been a long-time fan of their wares and was beyond excited to learn when they began offering LED minis. Since receiving them, I’ve fallen so madly in love with these hoops that I felt the need to share my thoughts on them with the masses :-).

A pretty amazing feature on the MoodHoops website is the option to order different LED styles for each hoop (if that doesn’t seem like your thing, though, you can always still order two of the same style). Mine are in Aura and Blaze. I love how the different LED combinations offset each other. It seems to give each a personality of their own.

Each hoop comes sanded in super light and thin 5/8” OD tubing with 12 LEDs in each. Two batteries and a charger are included; the batteries are already fully charged so as to be ready for adventure the second they arrive! As with all of their LED hoops, the battery is removable and charges externally. This is especially convenient when at a fest or burn, as one may then bring along extra batteries and also recharging a battery via generator might a bit less daunting then plugging in an entire hoop.

Having taken my minis now to a regional Burning Man event and a 3-day Hooping Workshop, I must stress how truly well-made they are! With the smaller battery, each hoop still shines bright for over 4 hours and their counterweighting feels perfect. I might even prefer the way they feel over my regular minis. Doing tosses with them feels especially amazing. In comparison to previous LED minis I’ve played with, the counterweights and LEDs don’t add much overall to the weight of the hoop. I think this has something to do with the super-light tubing they use, which is smaller than even my polypro tubing, but still holds a certain rigidity that I wouldn’t expect with such thin hoops.

A friend of mine said over this past weekend that she didn’t know that LED hoops could feel that comfortable when in flow. I really have to agree with her. Doing anything LED in the past has always been something of a love/hate experience for me. On the one hand, you want bright pretty lights. The downside always is that you now have to deal with a wonky heavy hoop.

These moodhoops have completely changed my outlook on LED hooping. I found myself leaving behind my 33” PSI hoop in favor to play with these at both Euphoria and Hoop Path. They just felt better, which is not what I would expect when playing with minis (of which I’ve accrued far less flight time overall than with my normal hoops). This is likely to change, though, with the new acquisition of my beautiful mini MoodHoops

They are so so lovely. I really am in love.

Go find them here.

Hi Claudia! I realize this is old but I'm curious about MoodHoops' minis. On their regular hoops there's a thicker piece of tubing where they connect and where the battery goes. Are the minis that way too?
