Saturday was a beautiful spring-like day so I took advantage by hooping out in the garden, christening my hoop with its first grassy stains! It felt quite different moving on a lumpy lawn from a wooden floor. It's still early enough in the year for winter to reassert its influence so I was lucky to experience this early taster of outdoor hooping.

As well as being new to hooping I'm also new to video capture/editing/uploading so it was also a good chance to test out that process too. I think I'm nearly there except that I look even thinner than I really am once my widescreen video gets squashed down!

It is such a nice thing to be able to hoop outdoors and breathe fresh air and let the sun smile on you while you hoop. I love this time of year and any excuse to be outside makes me happy. Any excuse to hoop makes me happy, too. So you know what I'll be doing on good weather days!

I've found I have a weird aversion to hooping on the "lumpy lawn". It's like an automatic mental block, I don't know why! I've gotta hunt down a flat surface.

But yes, I LOVE hooping outside (on concrete, lol). So much open space, cool breeze on your face, less fear of breaking something if you accidentally heave your hoop across the yard...it's great!

I certainly think for a beginner it is good to have the extra space to "give it some welly" when trying out new moves; intimidation by furniture can damage your development!

I also think I've worked out how to change the aspect ratio on my camcorder so my future uploads won't suffer from a squishing effect.
