One neat thing about my polypro hoop, and other stuff

I came here to post in my own journal, but I detoured first to read other people's latest entries. How uplifting to see so much good news today! People achieving goals, learning, growing, sharing, on a personal level and even with big crowds of people in performances! It makes me smile to read these things!

Me & Sid went to a local park and played for about 2 hours today. We brought the radio and all of our hoops, just in case anyone else wanted to play. Unbelievably warm weather here in Atlanta in January. We were perfectly comfortable in jeans and short sleeves. It was 65 degrees!

Thoughts so far on my new polypro hoop... It isn't the best for my full range of stuff, as on body stuff, while not impossible, is a  bit tricky and going to take some getting used to. Not only is it super light, it's also way smaller than any of my other hoops. I don't remember if hubby made it 32 or 34 inches, but either way, it's pretty darn tiny. However, I have found something that I really, really love about it. I can use it to learn a new trick that involves hand-hooping, and get NO bruising on the backs of my hands. This allows me to practice over and over and over and over and not have to stop because of the bruising thing. In addition, because of the lightness and the tiny diameter, I have to be very precise to get the trick right. It forces me to learn it right, without much wiggle room. Then, when I use my larger, heavier hoop, it's a BREEZE. Like just throwing a new trick right into my groove as if I had known it all along kind of easy. As I get more used to it, I may find different pros and cons. I'd like to master on-body stuff with it. All part of the process!
