My parents dug through their mass of tools and found the tools I need for hoop making; pipe cutters, pop rivet gun, and a small hand drill. So now all I need are the raw materials!

Locally I have a Home Depot for irrigation tubing. I'm looking at $28.50 for 100ft of 3/4in 160psi tubing, not too bad. But I'm having a hard time finding decently priced, colorful tapes. I don't want to start off ordering tons of tape online. I need to keep cost down as I'm not wanting to sell hoops, just make them for myself and friends at cost. Any suggestions?

I'm very excited! I can't wait to make my first hoop! I'll be sure to share pictures.

IDENTI-TAPE INC. in the U.S. have great prices ..I am not sure where they are in the U.s because I get them in Canada from the U.S. but they have great service and are quick and reliable ! More than 100.00 $ worth you get nice discounts. I have ordered 500.00 worth of colors and have made over 25 hoops , big and small and still have tons of colors left. They are on the net.

How lucky to find a pop rivet gun and all the tools you need. And that is a great price for 160psi tubing. I paid just about 50 for mine. And for tape- I am starting out with hockey tape, and I am looking into ribbon covered hoops as they are so pretty and I can get what I need locally. Have fun!

Be careful with the hockey tape , I found it tended to roll from the sides with use of the hoop..I hoop at least 2 hrs a day and my hoop had to be retaped..Maybe there are better qualities of hockey tape out there...Hope it works out .

I'm using hockey tape right now, mostly because of the cost. I drop the hoop. I drop the hoop a lot. giggle. In fact I probably spend more time picking up my hoop than actually spinning it. I figured that I will be retaping it soon anyway since it is taking such a beating. Gaffer tape is on my list of things to get when I get a bit better- I have identi-tape bookmarked for then :)

:D It looks like I'll be going online for tape. Nikki Russell (she's on my friends list) showed me her tape yesterday, and I now have a better idea of how much tape it takes to make a hoop. FindTape is near me, I'm in Oregon and they're in Washington, and their prices are competitive so I think thats the online place I'll be going with. :D

If you use Identi-Tape, make sure to put "hula hula" in the discount code box if you order more than $100 worth. It will give you a 15% discount. (I'm assuming the discount is still in effect.)
