Ohmigosh, how can I count the many ways I love the internet??!! I cannot BELIEVE there is a site strictly dedicated to people interested in hooping.

Wow!

My really good friend Roger, and I, just started this goal-exchange thing where we both wrote down our immediate and long-term goals and e-mailed them to each other. I definitely listed creating a hula-hooping routine by March of 2010 as my top goal. Soooo to find this web-site is unreal!!

Okay, so this is Day 1 of my hula-hooping endeavors. My hero, Sab, has a beeeeaaaaauuuutiful wife, Miriam, who is as talented as she is gorgeous and she is a hooping-QUEEN! Miriam is also just insanely generous and she made a beautiful hoop for me. It's really large and is filled with two cups of water so it sounds like a small wave everytime it circles my waist... simply wonderful! I hoop'd for about 45 minutes earlier this evening and it's already proving to be entire too much fun!!

The only real challenge I'm having right now is trying to lift the hoop as it spins with one hand :-/

I suppose they don't say "Practice makes perfect," for no reason. Tomorrow I'll try to practice for 2 hours and hopefully I can really see some improvement :-)

Welcome! :] The internet is wondrous --- one note: some people find it difficult to do some of the off-the-body "tricks" w/ a water-filled hoop - something about being set off balance. So don't get discouraged... Best of luck conquering your practice!

Thanks for the tip, Allison... I definitely find it a bit more challenging to use hoops with water for my arms... they're just so much heavier and when they fall on my wrists it hurts like h#!!
