Check out this awesome email I just got from Greenpeace:

From letters and phone calls to Congress, to thousands of you shutting down the Capitol power plant in Washington, DC, you’ve helped to launch an Energy Revolution and change the course of history.

But a revolution is just the beginning, and there’s still work to do! The good news is, we’ve got the technologies, renewable energy sources, and the momentum we need to win this. And most importantly, we have a plan.

It’s called Energy [R]evolution, a groundbreaking report that shows how the U.S. and the world can prevent the worst effects of global warming while meeting the energy needs of a growing world.

Energy [R]evolution is a totally new approach. It’s a blueprint for a safer climate and a stronger, more sustainable economy.

Take Action >> Support green jobs!
http://usactions.greenpeace.org/action/start/239/

Energy [R]evolution looks ahead 50 years and comes to two broad conclusions:

1. We need to be a lot smarter about how we use energy
2. Our energy has to be clean

And the best part – a clean energy economy means millions of clean, green jobs that can never be moved overseas. In fact, the study shows that meeting U.S. energy needs with clean energy is half as expensive as using fossil fuels between now and 2030. We can do this now using currently available, off-the-shelf technology.

But we can’t do this without YOU. Don’t let up. Kick the dirty energy economy once and for all.

Our plan is doable. Read the plan. Share it. And Take Action today!

"America has vast, largely untapped renewable energy sources. The five states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Montana, and Texas alone have enough wind energy potential to meet all of the country’s electricity needs, according to the report. Nevada could meet all of our energy needs all by itself if just 9 percent of the state’s land was covered in solar thermal plants. Off-shore wind resources could be tapped to produce as much energy as all of our current electricity generators combined. If every rooftop in America installed solar panels, we could meet more than 70 percent of our electricity needs."

It's good to read these encouraging things, to remind ourselves that there are alternatives to this wasteful way of life. Thanks for sharing!
