This must be a sign that i'm a hooper...

...because I haven't even started yet and already, i'm having trouble sleeping just from thinking about it!! Honestly!!! Also in the last couple of days, i've been anticipating the arrival of my burlesque kitten hoop, made by the lovely Lulu Hoop, and i'll be in the kitchen just doing up some dishes, jamming with my music blaring, and i'll burst into hoop dance!!!... Kinda,... without a hoop of couse! Laila(the dog) looks at me and starts her happy tail thing, and i'm just loving life!

But yeah, were any of you as obsessed before you actually started? I feel kinda strange about this lol

And one last thing,.. I have a bone to pick with my boyfriend. He graduated with his bachelors degree in Exercise Science and seems to think that i'm very mistaken for believing that hoop dance is going to tone me up as a full body work out. He says that your muscles just don't work that way!! Come on ladies!! Let's give him some truth he can't ignore because he doesn't believe anything I tell him about it, so all I say is "We'll just see about that" ;-)

Umm... how do they work, then? Last I checked, using a muscle in a repetative action causes strength increases in said muscle. And doing reps at a slower weight for longer, causes toning while doing shorter reps with a heavier weight causes bulk. So doing the action which keeps the hoop "up" and going around the waist tones the stomach and back muscles. Hand hooping above your head tones the muscles of the shoulder, arm and upper back. Chest hooping gets shoulders upper back and chest (pulls up the boobies tighter). Hip hooping tones the booty. And thigh hooping tones the quads and hamstrings as well as ankles stabalizer muscles. :-P

If you want proof... I built up muscle in my body after knee and shoulder injury through hooping. I have leg and arm muscles I never had before. Hooping rocks! hehe and well... even if it didn't tone you... it's just so much fun! And a great spiritual release.
