I tend to do a lot of wandering on the internet and I tend to come across some interesting things. One of those things was a site that sold glow sticks, led items, and other party items. I had already made myself a glow stick hoop at the time and was enjoying it on occasion. This site had led necklaces that I thought might work to string inside a hoop to become an inexpensive led hoop. I asked about using them here and through the answers I decided that I would try it and write a blog on my experiences. So, I'll give you the pros and cons and my own insights into this fun experiment.

Pros:

Inexpensive

You can use them disconnected.

Choice of multiple colors and flexibility to interchange colors on one hoop.

Lasts a good ten to twelve hours on the batteries. ( I had one running twelve hours and it still had not dimmed much)

Multiple modes: variety, flashing, and several chase modes

Cons

Not rechargeable

a little bit bulky. I used 3/4 inch pex tubing and the necklaces just fit. It was snug enough that the led would turn off or switch modes. All in all this happened very rarely to me. Bonus to the snugness: no real significant rattle.

I enjoyed using this hoop and will be taking it out again in the future. I expect it will tide me over until I can buy myself a psi-hoop.
