OMG I have been sooooooo friggin stressed out... the semester is winding down, my 2 jobs are whoopin my butt... I have been SOOOOOOOO BUSY!!! So, My college offers continuing education classes for kids over the summer...people are allowed to submit a proposal for a camp they would like to run. I proposed a HOOP A RAMA camp for 6-12 year olds!!! So hopefully it will get approved and I will get to teach over the summer! I think it would be a lot of fun! AND I would make enough $$$ to go to wakarusa!

Right now I'm teaching the Boy's and Girl's Club art classes... I have 5-7 year olds. It is the HIGHLIGHT of my week. Most of these kids come from homes where they don't get nurtured and encouraged a lot, so I try my best to make it a fun and loving class. It ends at 6, but they stay afterwards and play outside... so today I brought a bunch of hoops I had made to sell at the Earth Day festival. I told the kids I had a surprise for them, and after they were done with their project I went outside and brought out the hoops.. they went NUTS. The boys were actually better than the girls, it was so hysterical!!! I showed them a few tricks and they were convinced I had *magical* powers :) I'm so upset I didn't have my camera, but I'm definitely bringing it next week! At the end, all the kids were like 'miss jeni, i want a hula hoop, my momma won't buy me one'' so now my goal is to figure out how to get these kids some hoops! I would buy them myself if I knew how I was gonna pay rent next month... Maybe I could ask home depot to donate some tubing? It's definitely worth a try, I think :) any other ideas??
