This ended up as a Robbie Williams medley (not Robin Williams!), but that was just meant to be the warm up! New music and positive intentions spurred me to new heights of hooping bliss. Unfortunately I did fail to capture what I thought was my best moment after omitting to press the record button!

This is my first video for a long time since I began hooping a year ago so obviously shows quite an advance. I just haven’t been in the habit of videoing myself, but maybe that will change this year. I nearly gave up on the whole enterprise after about 6 months when I found myself frustrated with trying to learn moves and not feeling like I was dancing with it. But then I started to get comfortable with chest hooping and spent hours going round and round doing just that. Now I hoop almost exclusively on the body and I’m allowing my practice to expand in an organic way by adding in small stylistic elements and gradually extending the range of my movement. While I may be transported into a state of bliss by all of this(!) I realise it may not be so interesting for an observer, so I have added in some video effects to keep your attention!

Enjoy :-)

I just started myself to, In the first 2 weeks I was learning so so much, and then you get stuck in tricks that wont fly .. YET! like chest hooping or knee hooping.. So Im glad you have found your way and bliss back to hooping! <3

I'm not sure what "warrior style" is but I must be doing it! Thanks for your compliments.

OH, I remember you now. I didn't recognize you in the video. That was really fun. What a great gathering. You had really good energy and did really well I thought. And look at how far you have come. I'll be back with my girl Erica this summer and I look forward to seeing you again, if not at the UKHG, then maybe at a park somewhere. You will be a fantastic teacher. So wonderful to see the love of hooping spread.

Thankyou Beth for your generous comments. Yes I do know something of the HoopPath; in fact I remember very well your presentation of it at the UKHG (yes I was there, if fading into the background somewhat as a very early beginner!). I appreciate the integrated approach that Baxter encourages in developing a hoop practice and it is something that I would wish to promote when I get to teaching hoop (sometime this year?).

Paul, this is a wonderful video and like other commenters I am moved by your engagement and feeling in your dance. You are so responsive and expressive and I am THRILLED to see another dude rock the hoop. I don't know if you're familiar with the HoopPath, but Baxter really emphasizes Core hooping and listening to the point of contact as it rolls around the body. I can really feel you doing that when I watch you. I think that if you move in the that feels good to you, it will feel good to the observer as well.

That's funny. I'm glad I got it right in the captions on the video though otherwise I would have been mortified! Sounds like the connection has given you some inspiration. I'm all for injecting a bit of humour into the practice and I've been thinking about dropping some gags into my future offerings :-)
