I think you are great.  In so many ways.  I haven't posted a video because of my own gazillion reasons.  I want to be brave like you...  I'm inspired to get over my hang-ups and just put myself out there, too.

Awesome! You are doing great! If you are going to do more waist hooping I would certainly invest in a larger hoop. The one you are using is pretty small by any standard. Some people move on to the smaller ones as they advance. But I like my larger hoops even after all this time. Judging from the door frame, you are pretty tall, I wouldn't put someone your height in a hoop that small even if they had a smaller waist. A good rule is when you stand up the hoop in front of you it should hit between your belly button and the center of your chest...for those who have trouble at waist hooping...closer to the center of your chest than your belly button. Keep hooping...you are awesome!

I LOVE your spirit!!!! Thank you for your inspiration- now just maybe I will have the guts to post my first vid! We are all so hard on ourselves trying to be what we think is "perfect". It takes courage the first time, but the more you do the easier it becomes. Never put yourself down for trying to do something so beautiful as dance.

You are good with your hand hooping. Watching your video and assessing the size of the hoop you are using relative to your waist size, you need a much bigger hoop to help you learn on body hooping. That one looks around a 40" which is small. You need to make yourself a hoop that's 44" or 46" to really be able to learn the rhythm of the rotation. You have all the right motions, it's just going to be hopelessly too fast for you in that small hoop. I learned originally on a 43" but almost immediately made a 46" just for fun and I still use it occasionally when I want to slow things right down.

The added "extra" benefit of a big hoop is that it weighs more so you get an even better workout without realising it.

Hope that helps. You are doing really well. Keep going. I'm amazed at how fast new hoopers get this thing these days. Took me months to even be able to do the most basic things.
