Mini Hoop Tutorial: 2 & 3 Beat Weave - Behind the Back

This is my first hoop tutorial! I hope I explained the ideas well enough for you all to understand.

This is a pretty advanced trick - you'll need to know the 2 & 3 beat weaves in front of your body before starting to learn this move.*

In the middle I reference a link to a tutorial for the behind the back figure 8 with staff. Here's that link:
http://www.homeofpoi.com/lessons_all/teach/Reverse-Figure-8-Behind-Back-4_127...

The hoops that I'm using in this video are 30 inch (1/2 inch tubing). These hoops seem to be the "sweet size" for me in doing the 3 beat behind the back. Although it is possible with larger hoops, they sometimes hit the ground (which screws up the momentum) and smaller hoops are lighter and quicker which means that your reaction time needs to be faster and your planes need to be more accurate.

Thanks for watching and I look forward to seeing this trick in more hoop videos in the future! Good luck!

Special thanks to Cheese for cheering me on when I first discovered this move and to Atacan for helping me figure out the key to making it happen!

* If you don't already know the in front of your body 2 & 3 beat weaves, I recommend checking out Safire's Mini Hooping classes at:

She's a wonderful teacher and will give you all the skills you need to succeed with your minis!

The tip to practice with a staff really helped understand the dynamics of the move; thanks!

This is awesome Michelle! I've been practicing with one hoop behind the back, now I have something to strive for! I have to say that when you were talking into the camera, I was like, is she going to bust out puppets to show us this move?!? Then I realized they were gloves. Too cute. You should sell them on Etsy. I've got giraffes on the brain as we went to the zoo and fed some today! Keep up the awesome videos!

OMG awesome! Excellent tutorial! I love the arrow diagrams--that's how my mind works already when learning minis; all kinds of diagrams floating around in my head. Thanks for doing this!
