Thanks! The poi are from HOP. Its the multi-mode ones, and they come with socks if you want. (or cords as the other option). Love the mini hoops though, I want an LED pair myself :) Someday.... when I can afford it.

mini hoops can be a pain in the butt, compaired to poi, poi is soo much smoother and flows alot easier! lol i ordered my led minis from cosmic hooper, but ordered the minis way too small. but with the minis they also turn into a regular hoop too! were did you get those sock poi from? the lights in them are awesome

Hey Katie!

I think you're thinking of a windmill - one of my most favorite poi moves :) It's basically just a vertical corkscrew. Here's a corkscrew tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUsMsybN0W0&feature=related and one for the windmill once you've learned that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N231rKDYEwg

Hope that helps!!

Oh my goodness, I love it! I'm learning poi now, how do you alternate going back and fourth behind your head? Ha. Awesome first poi video!

thanks! i've been spinning more lately too (also just got a package I ordered from HOP!), trying to work on mini (poi) hooping, but the poi are so much easier to flow with, i keep picking them up instead. also, oggpoi are very pretty! i looked at those for a while too before choosing the multifunction. the multifunction are nice, I like adjusting my poi to my mood ;) - and I like how similar they are to the poi I learned with. I want some flow lights from floytoys as my next poi though. :D

i made my first pair of sock poi too, using this video

and i HIGHLY recommend this website for socks: www.sockdreams.com - they're really quick and have a huge assortment of socks. i love the home of poi stuff (waiting for my new fire poi to arrive from them this afternoon!), but they ship from the UK so sometimes it can take a bit longer.

thank you for posting a poi video... i've been super into poi lately, i think it has a lot of overlap with hooping! i'm glad to hear you like those 20-mode poi, i've been eyeing them for a while. i just bought myself a new pair of oggpoi and they're pretty sweet!

Rice bags are a good idea for sure!

I started with these:

http://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDetails/MultiColor-LED-Poi-Set...

but would suggest buying a pair of socks for them from the HOP webpage. (mine are black and white striped, creating those cool black lines in my spinning). The socks are easier (in my opinion). I tied a loop on each end, so I have somewhere to loop my fingers, which also made it easier. I liked those poi more than the multi-function for learning, because the balls are really more squishy than expected, the impact isn't terrible. the multifunction have a flat side where you change modes, and it hurts a lot more to be hit with them because generally i tend to only hit myself with the flat side. lol.

Anyway, here is a link for empty socks:

I would even suggest getting a pair of the socks above, theyre so awesome, super springy, and putting rice bags into them. you could always put the rice bags in, learn the trick, and move on to trying with harder (led) poi. hope this helps!
